Wild Cactuses

We had a nice relaxing weekend.  When I say relaxing, I don't mean it was spent on the sofa in front of the tv or sleeping in.  What I mean is, we didn't have anything to do or any place to be at a certain time - except grocery shopping. :)

The weather was great.  We spent most of our time outside.  Well, my Princess and myself.  Daddy and my prince stayed inside due to the hot sun.  We played in the mud, in the driveway with chalk, taking walks/bike rides, using her new "soaker" family sent her for Easter.  She even helped me with yard work I wanted to get done - raking up all the pine needles that are everywhere! Have I told you how much I hate pine needles?!  Seriously,  they are everywhere, all the time.  I wish we didn't have pine tress!

For the most part our weekend was relaxing. Except for two things;  our neighbors having a party -at night & finding out we have wild cactuses growing in our yard while doing yard work and not realizing until after I have been stuck a million times in my hand.  It hurts.  Seriously, going to google remedies on how to get these things out.  I can feel them but not see them :(

Happy 1 Year Home Anniversary!!!

Two things - One, I have been MIA and busy.  Sorry for lack of updates!

Second, we have been homeowners for a whole year now!!!!  Woo-hoo!!!  The house looks totally different to us. And I'm sure to the previous owners - as the daughter of the previous owner constantly stalks us/the house.  I think it looks a lot better since we have owned it.  Everything was overgrown and ugly!  (Still needs TLC with the landscaping.)

As for owning a house, we love it!  We can do what we want, when we want. I have Pinterest so I have lots of plans for this home!  We haven't done much yet but when you have two munchkin's (who don't like to nap) and a busy hubby, not a lot of customizing will be getting done :(  But when my parents come in to town, they help us out a lot!  I have my "honey do" list ready (as my mom calls it) for my parents when they come next time.  And my number one priority, the back yard and landscaping!  The previous owners left a dangerous tree fort that was overgrown and literally fell over when the wind blew as well as random wood and misc. things by the back fence, as well as in the woods behind the house.  My biggest fears of all this is, poison ivy and SNAKES!  (They are very common hear.  just last summer, hubby killed atleast 6 in our backyard, coming from the woods. :(

Sew much fun!

Recently I have engaged myself in a new hobby or addiction,  sewing!  I love it and have sew much fun doing it! The last time my parents came to visit, my mom brought down a fairly new, only used a few times sewing machine from an elderly neighbor who passed it on to her. But my mom has my grandmothers sewing machine and didn't need it so she thought of me :)

While my parents were still in town that week, we made a trip to a thrift store where I picked up a 1968 Singer built into a desk, for $30!   It has all the original extras (from what I can tell), it's in good shape, and it still works!!!  The only thing that it did not come with was the handbook.  Still searching online for one, online.   I am afriad to use it without the manual.

I will post some of my projects soon.  I am having trouble posting from my iPad right now.

It's not ALL fun & games

I thought I would explain to some of the people that have the assumption that being a SAHM (stay at home mom) is all fun and games.  I mean it is fun and games but not ALWAYS fun and games.  I am constantly busy, I don't have down time,  it's true- you can't go to the bathroom by yourself, running an errand is a chore especially if you have more than one to do or your in between feedings for your kids or you have any kind of appointment.  And getting out of the house is an even bigger chore, especially when you have to be somewhere by a certain time!   But you know what, I wouldn't change my life or lifestyle for anything in the world!

When your a Mom (parent), you are always learning new things no matter what your age or your children's age.   There are a few things I've learned with two kids and getting out of the house.   Planning, organizing and thinking ahead.   For instance,  when we have an appointment the next day,  I pack a lunch for us when I am packing hubby's lunch (yes, he's spoiled and loved as am I).   I will also pick out outfits down to the hair bow choices for my princess and shoes.  Well for her, I usually pick out 2 outfits so she can "chose" her own outfit, since she is a big girl.  I also wake up early to take things out to the car a head of time so my hands are free taking the kids out to the car.  You may think that's too extreme, but that's what works for me!

What works for you?  Any suggestions are welcomed :)

Back on track

I am back from taking some much needed time off from blogging.  While things have happened  in our crazy busy yet relaxed life, I have often thought to myself about blogging about it.   But thank you for all the much appreciated prayers as I was having some health issues.  Some of which I have had a long time and have went in diagnosed for a very long time.  But thankfully I am now on track to hopefully get things back on track.   Thanks again for the much needed and appreciated prayers and well wishes.

As some of you may have noticed a new name, I am trying it out.  I was tiring to come up with something cute/clever but not too sure yet on it.. Any suggestions of names or opinions on this would be greatly appreciated.
